Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama is making a stop in Idaho.

"College Democrats are pleased to announce that Senator Barack Obama will be coming to Boise on Saturday, February 2nd." Boise State College Democrat Alan Brewington said.

Chani Wiggins, Communications Director for Idaho for Obama said, "Obama is coming here. There has been such a surge of interest and support in the state of Idaho and he knows how important the state of Idaho is. This is an opportunity he just can't pass up." Obama's advance team is flying in tonight (Monday) to join field organizers and volunteers to search out a location in Idaho for Obama to appear this Saturday.

"People are guessing he'll come to metro Boise area but it hasn't been confirmed yet," Wiggins said.

Representatives from Boise State College Democrats and Idaho Students for Obama will take part in the student organization fair tomorrow in the Student Union Building from 10am to 1:30 tomorrow for students who have questions about Idaho Caucus on Super Tuesday, Feb 5., as well as information about Obama and volunteer opportunities for students who want to get involved.

"This is historic, finally a Caucus where Idaho has a say in the Presidential Election, a real say," Wiggins said. "Who is going to be the final two candidates and who is going to be the next President of the United States? This is such a close race and the campaign has been going on for a year for all of us … its just historic!"

Obama, the junior Senator from Illinois, leads the race for the Democratic nomination with 63 delegates.

Sen. Hilary Clinton is in second with 48. Sen. John Edwards trailing with 26 delegates.

Idaho has a total of 23 delegates for the Democratic Convention.

By coming to Idaho, Obama shows that he doesn't just talk about unity, he actually means it. I think that it says a lot when a Democratic candidate comes to one of the reddest states in the nation to address our local issues. (Continued…)
