Eco-terrorism is a growing threat

An act of terrorism occurred less than 450 miles away on American soil last Monday. Although the attack may not stem from the likes of Osama Bin Laden, they plot just as maliciously and callously against our American culture.

Early Monday morning, a radical environmentalist group known as the Earth Liberation Front set several houses afire, in Woodinville, WA. ELF is a radical environmental organization that uses arson, bombings, harassment and vandalism as a means to promote ecological and environmental friendliness.

While the majority of Americans focus their energy on Islamic terrorism, eco-terrorism is alive and well in the United States, and is occurring right under our noses.

Movements like the ELF and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) have been a danger to this society for the last two decades yet most people know nothing about them. We know nothing of their origin, their history of destruction, or the threat that their terrorist activities pose to our way of life. The FBI believes that both ELF and ALF have committed over 600 acts of terrorism in the last 10 years. While no human injuries or deaths have been accounted for, violence and destruction is still their preferred method of activism.

ELF first took responsibility in 1997 when the group burned down a Bureau of Land Management horse corral in Oregon. Since then the group has claimed responsibility for hundreds of crimes in the name of environmental protection all across the nation. By using arson and car-bombings, to voice their message, these misfits contradict themselves by destroying private and public property.

What scares me the most about these groups is their arrant disregard for humans while trying to uphold respect for animals and the environment.

It is a completely twisted and ignorant way to perceive society, which makes it impossible to reason with them. There is no way to reason with someone who burns down homes or destroys vehicles, or torches public parks. It's a sick conception of what could possibly grow into a dangerous murderous wave.

I'm in agreement with most of this article, however to say

"We argue against the need of the Patriot Act, and we cry, "it will never happen to me," while we sympathize with terrorists who have a good cause. (Continued…)

Islamic terrorism isn't the greatest threat. Exo-terrorism, first doesn't exist, and isn't the greatest threat. Who is actually taking away our freedoms? Oh ya, our government. (Continued…)
